John Van Hamersveld

Arts Brookfield – the folks who brought you giant inflatable bunnies and Unsilent Cinema (thanks again for that beautiful coverage)-A is bringing Southern California icon and pop culture hero John Van Hamersveld to DTLA! The creator of the quintessential surf movie poster for Endless Summer has created a large-scale art installationaSigns of Life-that will be free and open to the public for six weeks just in time to usher in the Valentineas Day season with kaleidoscopic art and celebration.

Van Hamersveld has as played an instrumental role in shaping the visual culture of rock na roll and SoCal life since the 60s.A Known for his legendary concert poster of Jimi Hendrix at LAas Shrine Auditorium as well as the 1984 Olympic mural at the LA Coliseum, Van Hamersveld has a prolific career that includes work for some of LAas most favorite brands, including Fat Burger, Kate Mantillni, Capitol Records, and Buzz Magazine.

Beginning February 10 and running through March 31, Signs of Life will span across two of Brookfieldas Downtown LA properties: premiere shopping destination FIGat7th and Bank of America Plaza on Bunker Hill (where the LA Chamber Orchestra will be playing music by the composers Van Hamersveld will portray on the Bank of America building alongside the Farmeras Market on Fridays during the run of this show). Both sites will feature vibrant, pop art imagery based on symbols Van Hamersveld conceived in 1997 to represent his take on the signs of life.

We are kicking of this exhibit on February 10th with a Psychedelic Valentineas Day Love-In & Happy Hour at FIGat7th Plaza. The night kicks off with themed drinks and happy hour specials beginning at 5 p.m. in the FIGat7th Courtyard, followed by a silent disco from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Quietly dance the night away amidst the psychedelic graphics of Signs of Life artwork.

Also, please personally SAVE THE DATE, Feb. 10th before the Silent Disco for a VIP cocktail party and opportunity to meet John Van Hamersveld at FIGat7th. Official invite to follow.
