If you’re an art lover or just interested in creative entertainment, then for sure you know that Art Basel Miami happened this past weekend. Under the umbrella of this international event many simultaneous art fairs happen, one of them being Art Miami + Context, the longest running art fair in the city on its 32nd edition, which we attended this year.  We also attended several other events surrounding Art Basel, so stay connected to our social media and subscribe to our newsletter to get access to all our upcoming interviews and events.

An art fair that surrounds you with exquisite works, artists, art enthusiasts, and collectors. Art Miami + Context happens in the prestigious water backed location of One Herald Plaza on Biscayne Bay, within an immense tent where you’re welcomed with smiles, colors, forms, and arrangements, all intentionally placed for viewing pleasure. So, what was it like to experience it this time around?

With 600+ artists and thousands of pieces of artwork, the fair provides a space where both amateurs or long-time collectors can find something that sparks their interest. With the convenient range of price points, this fair continues to be a perfect space for new collectors to start their journey. The variety of work, from oil paintings to mixed media, photography, and sculptures, shows that it is beyond dispute what the art world can achieve.

We were able to enjoy a unique experience when encountering each new artwork, coming from galleries and artists from all around the world. There were works from “ Mary Sims” that stopped your tracks to approach the work like you discovered something foreign and familiar at the same time; or other works like Jonathan Huxley that made you feel drawn into an endless play of movement and celebration.

In many cases, artworks required standing inches away from them to get the full experience, while others could be observed from afar, all while still seeing, feeling, and experiencing what the artist intended to transmit to spectators.

Other essential highlights of the fair were: the launch of the Kennedy Kids Foundation during the VIP preview, which recollected money for the charity through a silent auction of original works by the amazing artist and muralist Bradley Theodore; the attendance of celebrities such as Floyd Mayweather and Jon Bon Jovi; and sales that included pieces like the 1989 Reflection by Roy Lichtenstein, Andy Warhol’s “Siberian Tiger” and different pieces by Fernando Botero.

So, whether you have a large art collection or you’re just starting out, Art Miami + Context is an art fair not to miss when you come in next year!
