On June 13th, 2024, Dot Red, in collaboration with Silicon Valley Bank, hosted the much-anticipated ‘Art, Tech, and Assets’ event. Held at a stunning art collector’s home near the iconic Hollywood sign, the event provided an exquisite setting for an evening that seamlessly blended art, technology, and financial innovation.

Under the wonderful Los Angeles weather, the event attracted a diverse and distinguished audience, including business owners, art collectors, representatives from public arts organizations, art enthusiasts, and talented artists. As guests arrived, they were greeted with fine wine, hors d’oeuvres, and an opportunity to mingle in the beautiful surroundings, setting the stage for the insightful discussions that followed.

The panel discussion featured an impressive lineup of speakers. Ronnie Harris II from SVB shared introductory comments on how art and the tech industry come together as a pathway for investment and cultivating wealth.  Dr. Joy Simmons, a renowned art collector, board member at CAAM, and philanthropist, shared her insights on the evolving art market and the importance of supporting emerging artists. She also shared the story of her start as a collector. Tom McLeod, a tech entrepreneur, founder of Arkive Collection, discussed the transformative potential of blockchain technology in the art world, emphasizing its role in enhancing transparency and security in art transactions. Jeremy Quant, CEO of Dot Red, highlighted the mission of his company to bridge the gap between artists and collectors through innovative platforms and events like this. The panel was moderated by Sarah Wendell Sherill, SVP at Christies, whose probing questions and engaging style kept the conversation lively and informative.

As guests moved through the beautifully decorated collector’s home, they encountered an exquisite showcase of artworks by artists Nikolas Soren Goodich, Autumn Breon, Knowledge Bennett, Reginald W. Armstrong, Penda Diakite, Bart Cooper, Sharon Barnes, and Aria Dean. The artwork was thoughtfully placed throughout the home, creating an immersive experience that allowed attendees to appreciate each piece in a unique setting. The showcase not only highlighted the diverse styles and perspectives of the artists but also underscored the importance of art in fostering cultural and social dialogue. 

A sit-down meal was served during the panel, offering a perfect opportunity for more intimate conversations and deeper networking. The enlightening discussions continued over dinner, with attendees sharing ideas and exploring potential collaborations.
