Meka Tome is a fine artist and experimental photographer using alternative photographic techniques to analyze and reconstruct the entangled processes of memory, emotion, and existence. Inspired by the developmental qualities of organic beings, the ephemeral components of her pieces give them identities that parallel the transient nature of human life. These organic forms, often juxtaposed with minimalist industrial structures, emphasize the isolated result of humanity distancing itself from other forms of consciousness. Through the deliberate use of non-archival photographs, Tome’s work addresses the innate human desire to preserve ourselves in a system destined for decay.
