Artist: Meka Tome
Meka Tome is an interdisciplinary artist based in Los Angeles, California. Utilizing photographic imagery combined with sculptural elements, she creates work that speaks to emotional processes, ephemerality, and time. Through poetics and ambiguity, Meka blurs the lines that delineate metaphor from lived experience, seeking to engage an experience with a piece rather than the sole witnessing of a work. Prompting introspection from viewers, or more accurately experiencers, her work is further activated once others bring their own individual experiences to them. She is interested in the potential a work of art has in the presence of different people, allowing growth and evolution with each human encounter.
