Vandorn’s art career spans a period of fifty years. His 1980 inclusion in the NC Museum of Art group exhibition “Afro American Artists: NC, USA” was sufficient impetus for him to dedicate his life to creating imagery for the edification of the human mind and spirit.
He studied Art Design at NC A&T State University and studied sculpture at UNC-Greensboro.
Today, the artist spends most of his time working on sculpture commissions and contemplating the many sculptural forms that populate the rooms of his expansive imagination.
Most of his career has been spent creating works that are organized into the following series; Organic Abstractions, Ancestor Memorial Series, The Portal Series, Geometric Abstractions, The Totemic Sculpture Series, and the Meta-Physical Geometries Series.
His works of art are in numerous corporate collections, and in a great many private collections across North America. Some works are in Africa and in Europe.
The artist now has three books to his credit with the most recent being the long-awaited publication of “LOVE… Opera House of The SOUL: a book of Musings by Vandorn”.
